I have a new Michelle’s Musing up at Lotsofkids.com. It covers how the current economic climate has more people embracing a more frugal lifestyle–like it or not.
Every day I see articles showing how you can save money. Things that are such common sense, like buying store/generic brands, re-using what you have, cutting back on services you don’t use, and other lifestyle changes that can add up to big savings. I think what always amazes me is that while those things may seem to be a given to me, the fact is there are many who find those kinds of tips a revelation.
I know the phrase “less is more” seems a bit of an oxymoron in a mega family. It’s not. I have learned to be far less thing-centered because of my large family, and that is a blessing. While we are struggling now just like a lot of other people, I feel well equipped. We are having a hard time, but honestly it is far less painful for us than some of my friends who have 1-2 kids and are struggling not only to cut corners, but adjust to a far different lifestyle. It’s because of my large family that I’m better off, not the other way around.
